Wellness Daily Habits That Helped Me Detox My Life
Mindful, effortless and totally cool girl coded, welcome to my wellness daily habits that helped me detox my life
Let’s be real—wellness these days has become another performance. Curated green smoothies, overpriced yoga sets, and a new “that girl” routine every two weeks. But true wellness? The real kind that grounds you and brings you peace? That happens quietly. In the smallest moments. In how you speak to yourself. How you start your morning. How you protect your mind and energy from the chaos of the world.
This is a love letter to that kind of wellness—the daily habits that slowly, softly detoxed my life and reminded me who I really am beneath the noise.
1- The Beauty of Silence + Gratitude First Thing in the Morning
Every morning, before I reach for my phone or check the time—I just sit in silence. I let my thoughts rise and settle without judgment. I tune into the gentle sounds around me: birds outside, the soft rustle of trees, the hum of my home waking up. And then, I list everything I’m grateful for.
Not just the big things—but the little ones that often go unnoticed: the way sunlight filters through my window, the feeling of my cloud-like bed, my healthy body, the people I love, a roof over my head. Gratitude doesn’t just shift your mindset—it reconnects you with the present. And that presence? It’s everything.
2- No Phone for 30 Minutes (Minimum)
For years, I used to wake up and immediately check my phone—emails, messages, notifications, the news, Instagram... it all hit me before my brain was even fully online. And surprise—it left me feeling anxious, scattered, and overstimulated before the day had even begun.
Now, my mornings are sacred. I stretch. I breathe. I make tea. I do my skincare slowly and mindfully. Sometimes I read a few pages of a book or just sit and daydream a little (specially now that the sun has entered the chat). Only after I’ve spent some time with myself do I pick up my phone. And even then, with intention. Because I’ve learned that how you begin your morning is often how you live your day.
I’ve tried this new morning routine hack this month and I’ve really seen changes specially surrounded my positive levels that have massively increased while my stress and constant need to reach for my phone have massively decreased!
3- Reevaluating the Content You Consume—Including Music
This might sound dramatic, but it changed everything: I became super mindful of the music I was listening to. I started realizing how so many lyrics—even the ones on my “boss b*tch playlist”—were subtly negative, filled with toxic relationship energy, or straight-up misogyny. And yet I was singing them on loop like affirmations. Wild, right?
So I made the switch. More soft, empowering, expansive music. Sounds that uplift me, ground me, or spark joy. Because music leaves an imprint. And if I wouldn’t accept someone speaking those words to me in real life—why would I let them be screamed at me in surround sound?
4- Digital Cleanse: Detoxing The Feed + Saying Goodbye to the Noise
We’re long overdue for a conversation about brain rot and rage-bait. So much of our scrolling isn’t even entertaining anymore—it’s just numbing. It’s passive. It’s habitual. I did a full cleanse of who I follow, unfollowing anything that drained me, made me feel small, or kept me stuck in comparison loops.
I swapped doom-scrolling for inspiring podcasts, artful YouTube videos, and creators who make me want to be more present—not more perfect. The difference in my mood and mindset? Insane.
5- Detoxing the Apps—Deleting Instagram (Yes, for Real)
After nearly a decade of checking Instagram daily, I finally deleted it. (Actually did it two months ago.) Not in a casual “I’m taking a break” style, but completely cold turkey — fully gone. And I have zero regrets.
I’ve also been off TikTok for the past week, and while I won’t lie—it’s been a little harder to resist—I can feel my brain decompressing. The fog is lifting.
I have more ideas. More clarity. I notice things again. I’m not constantly refreshing someone else’s life—I’m living my own. It’s wild how much time and mental space opens up when you stop checking in on everyone else’s highlight reel.
6- Read Books—Not Captions
Books changed the way I think. Not in some pretentious “I only read classics” way—because I don’t. I mostly read self-help and self-improvement books—but they slow you down. They require your full attention. They make you feel something deeper than a quick quote or viral clip.
Reading helped me relearn how to focus. How to reflect. How to sit with myself. Every time I finish a book, I walk away with something that actually stays with me. Which is more than I can say for any TikTok video or reel I’ve ever scrolled past.
7- Start the Hobby—Stop Just Romanticizing It
Here’s the truth: I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t started painting, writing, or sewing just for the fun of it. Those hobbies weren’t just a creative escape during law school—they became the foundation of the business I have today.
There’s so much power in building what I’ve seen called “identity capital”—the experiences and interests that make you uniquely you. Interesting people are interested. And the more I create, the more I feel connected to myself in a way no scroll can replicate.
8- Move Intuitionally for Joy, Not Just a Goal
Yes, we all love the idea of 10K steps a day. But if you work from home like me, that’s not always realistic. Lately, I’ve been loving dance workouts on YouTube that make you forget you’re exercising. Some days I just freestyle around my apartment with music blasting—and let me tell you, it counts.
Movement doesn’t have to be rigid or routine. It can be playful. Flowy. Releasing. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s energy.
9- Reduce Negative Energy (People Included)
Some people bring light. Others bring a cloud. And while I’m not into the whole “cut everyone off” narrative, I am a big fan of protecting your peace.
These days, I’m selective about who gets access to my energy. If someone constantly drains me, I gently pull back. I’d rather sit in silence alone than in noise with someone who leaves me feeling worse. Your presence is valuable—treat it that way.
Especially now, as an adult, my time is limited. So let’s make it worthy—and inspiring.
10- Treat Yourself Like You Treat Your Best Friend
This mindset is everything. I ask myself: would I feed my best friend junk and then guilt her for being tired? Would I speak down to her if she didn’t feel productive? No? Then why would I do that to me?
I started cooking with more love, hydrating more often, speaking to myself with care. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being kind. Consistently.
We spend 100% of our time with ourselves—from the day we’re born until the day we die. Why not make that relationship a priority?
11- My (Peaceful) Breakup with Coffee
In law school, I was powered by caffeine. But eventually, that power came at a cost—anxiety, jitters, full-on dependency. If I didn’t have my morning latte, I’d spiral into a foggy, headache-y mess.
After graduation, I decided to break up with coffee. I switched to matcha and herbal teas. No more caffeine crashes, no more anxiety spikes. Two years later, I don’t even miss it. I feel so much more balanced. It was the most unexpected act of self-care.
Wellness isn’t a checklist. It’s a series of small, intentional choices made with love. It’s how you treat yourself when no one’s watching. It’s knowing you don’t need to buy another thing, hit another milestone, or post another aesthetic photo to be worthy.
You already are.
Detoxing my life didn’t make me someone new—it helped me become more me. And that’s the whole point.
So whether you’re ready to delete Instagram, drink more water, or just start stretching in the morning—know this: every little step matters.
Until next time, stay inspired, stay mindful, and always romanticize your cool-girl life.
xx,
Sisi
